MORE GATES
The new concourse has eight gates. This will assist in accommodating the growing passenger flow at the airport. With these gates, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport now has 114 gates in total!
MORE SPACE
Alongside the eight new gates are 275,000 more square feet that will be used to service Southwest Airlines customers! However, this isn’t the only amazing addition to the space. There are also 130,000 square feet of retail and dining choices.
BAGGAGE HANDLING UPGRADES
Another addition can help improve Sky Harbor even more efficient. The baggage handling system stretches about 1.5 miles of conveyor belts that are positioned across four tunnels underground. The tunnels are responsible for efficiently transferring your baggage from the counter at the ticket counter to TSA to be checked prior to moving it to another concourse.
INCREDIBLE VIEWS
The new concourse also takes advantage of the stunning perspectives of the Phoenix landscape you can see through Sky Harbor. Sky Harbor airport. Passengers can view South Mountain Park when they look south, as well as an air national guard wing, the Air National Guard 161st Refueling Wing.
However, there are 14,000 square feet of electrochromic glazing, an intelligent glass that increases the efficiency of energy and also views! It also boasts “View Smart” technology which uses Artificial Intelligence to adapt to the sun’s rays protecting people from glare and heat.

NEW AMENITIES
Naturally, the brand-new area located at Sky Harbor Airport comes with many exciting new facilities too!

“The “Amenities zone” features a nursing area as well as a family restroom Animal Relief Area, and vending ATM machines. The new concourse has additional amenities for customers, such as charging stations available in each seat “tech” tables providing work space with charging stations and hearing loops that are integrated into every hold room. Each of the hold rooms at the gate can accommodate 125 people. .”
RESTAURANTS AND SHOPS
There are a variety of new retail and restaurant establishments scheduled to be included in the concourse over the remainder of 2022, and through 2023. While they’re not completed, visitors are able to shop and dine at various food and retail kiosks on the concourse.
Additionally, there will be a lounge for common use within The Eight Concourse known as The Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club. It’s got 3500 square feet of space which is ideal space to allow passengers to unwind and eat or work as they wait until their flights.
In the media kit: “The lounge will be open to travellers of all airlines, and access will be available to Chase Sapphire Reserve cardmembers, as well as Members of Priority Pass or by purchasing a day pass.”
SHOPPING
Passengers are also able to browse the various shops within the brand-new concourse. If they’re looking to buy souvenirs or local products, electronic devices or books, as well as other travel items, visitors will find the items they’re searching for in the shops located on the Eight Concourse!
